Barbara Jean Ahr passed away peacefully with family at her home in Wilson, Wyoming on January 27, 2023 at the age of 77.
Born and raised in Denver, CO, Barby excelled in school and attended Colorado State University on a National Merit Scholarship, and graduated with Honors from the University of California Santa Barbara. Following graduation she moved to Hawaii and taught school for several years on Oahu. She returned to the mainland to attend the University of Wyoming College of Law, graduating with a JD. A passionate attorney she initially practiced in Riverton; and, upon marrying and moving to Wilson, did pro bono work for several Jackson Not-for-Profit organizations.
Barby married Felix Buchenroth, Jr. in 1981. They had 34 years together and truly loved each other. Together they traveled the world developing many lasting friendships and a lifelong enjoyment of their unique travel experiences. Both shared a love of football, always cheering for the Denver Broncos and the University of Wyoming. A liberal Democrat, married to a conservative Republican, they were often referred to as “strange bedfellows”.
Barby served as a National Committee Woman representing Wyoming at several Democratic conventions. She supported and worked on numerous Democratic campaigns and committees drawing from her legal expertise and a passion for fairness.
Barby is survived by her sister and brother-in-law Linda & Jim Sneed; niece Jennifer Krupoff (Jason); great niece Kendall Krupoff and great nephew Connor Krupoff. Her parents and husband preceded her in death. Barbara Jean “The Queen” will be forever missed.
