Dad grew up in Kansas and spent his summers at his grandfather's farm. At the age of 8, he was proclaimed a hero when the family home caught on fire. He broke a window on the second floor and pushed his 6 year old brother out the window to safety. After graduating from high school, Cliff hitchhiked to Casper, WY where his Grandpa Lutz and Aunt and Uncle Ruth and Harold Bell lived. During that time, World War II had broke out, so he headed back to Kansas and was drafted into the Army. Shortly after that he married his first wife Jean. He was stationed in Hawaii and the Philippines. He returned home in 1946 and picked up his life as husband and father to Earl and Carolyn. He was divorced in 1950 and was raising his 2 kids when he met and married Deloris in 1951. They had three daughters, Debbie, Ruth and Susie. Debbie passed away when she was only 2 months old. Dad moved his family to Jackson in 1952 and worked as electrician for Marion Davidson and later Ed Cheney. When work was scarce, he moved around the state working for Modern Electric in Casper and coming home on weekends. He eventually went to work as a master electrician for A-1 Electric and Delcon in Jackson, retiring in 1986.
Dad was an avid fisherman, hunter, prankster, story teller and friend. He always remembered what it was like to be the newcomer, so he welcomed new friends to the valley and even shared his favorite fishing holes with them.
Dad and mom traveled in the winters, visiting army buddies in Georgia and cruising through the south. They spent time with his brother, Bob and sister, Helen and friends in Arizona. Deloris passed away in 1997 and Cliff married Lorraine Coons from Kansas. They continued the winter ritual of heading south for the winters until 2009. Dad didn't let his age or health stop him from hunting with his son and his caregiver. His last hunting expedition was this fall at the age of 93 with Greg Orr. Dad had a fun spirit, curious mind, a kind heart and he lived a good life. No doubt, we will all miss him.
Dad is survived by his wife, Lorraine, children Earl & Bonnie Lutz, Jim McCloy & Ruth Lutz, Susie & Don Hawkes, sister, Helen (Wayne) Thompson, 11 grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and of course all of this great friends and caregivers!!
