Helen McGregor

October 8, 1915 — November 11, 2010

Helen McGregor entered this world on October 8, 1915, in Beaver, Utah, Utah. She was the 9th child of ten children born to Dr. Joseph Franklin McGregor and Lena Isabella Durham. Helen grew up in Beaver, where her parents had moved so she could attend the Murdock Academy for High School. Later on the family moved to Salt Lake City, where her father practiced dermatology. She graduated from the University of Utah at a very young age and began teaching in Deweyville.

Helen was a well-beloved kindergarten teacher for many years in Rose Park and Salt Lake City. Upon retirement she moved to Daniel, then Jackson, Wyoming, with her sister Julia so they could be near the mountains they loved to dearly. Helen played the piano beautifully and she taught many children to play without charge. She was a member of the LDS Church, and loved playing the piano for the children in Primary. Helen always had a love for the beautiful things in life...particularly wildflowers, birds, classical music, and fine art. she particularly loved taking car trips into the mountains and to far away places with her beloved sister, Julia, and her mother, Isabella. She cared for her sister and her parents for many years. Julia, her siblings, and parents all preceded her in death. elen seldom complained even when things were physically difficult for her. She had a zest for life and died on November 11, 2010, at her home in Jackson, Wyoming. A special thanks for all those friends and caregivers who took care of Helen and Julie during their last years in Jackson.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 30th, at the Emigration 6th Ward, 589 18th Avenue, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will follow at the Salt Lake City cemetery. A short memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday prior to interment.
