Larry Wilde

August 2, 1956 — April 27, 2009

Larry T. Wilde was born August 2, 1956 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Boyd P. Wilde and LaFern Rowberry Wilde. In 1967, when Larry was 11, their family moved to Jackson. His father managed the B&W Market, and his mother was a busy homemaker, raising six children and one niece. In high school, two of Larry's favorite past-times were playing football and downhill skiing. He graduated from Jackson Hole High School in 1974 and then attended Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho. From 1977-1979, he served an LDS mission to the Scotland Glasgow Mission. In 1980, he married Leesa Cox in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. Larry worked as a meat cutter at Western Thriftway. Then he got an opportunity to buy a business, and he and Leesa owned and operated a meat processing business in Burton, Idaho. In 1985, the Wilde's came back to Jackson, where Larry worked for Broulim's Thriftway, Westside Store, and then Fred's Market. After Fred's Market sold, Larry drove school bus for Teton County. He drove for Elk Refuge Sleigh Rides in the winter and cooked for Bar-T-5 in the summer. Then he worked for Frito Lay. In true Jackson Hole fashion, he often worked at some of these jobs concurrently. Larry loved cooking, especially for other people, which was openly seen as he catered many weddings and other local special events. He was delighted to own his own business again when he and Leesa bought Park Place Market, changing its name to Creekside Meats, Market & Deli. The deli claimed its fame with a variety of great sandwiches and Larry's famous breakfast burritos. Due to his generous portions, chef-like skills, and friendly demeanor, Creekside was a local favorite, and certainly an unforgettable experience for the non-locals. After selling the deli in 2004 due to health problems, Larry cooked for the Teton County Jail. He then worked for START until he was diagnosed with colon cancer last June. Larry and Leesa have two sons, Larry Jr. (L.J.) and Nathan. L.J. is married to Jana Burrows. They have one granddaughter, Bela Rebecca. In addition to his wife, children, and granddaughter, Larry is survived by his father, Boyd Wilde, of Jackson; a sister, Leslie (Kenny) Lindquist, of Jackson; brothers Dennis (Nancy) Wilde, of East Palatka, FL, and Mike (Patty) Wilde, of Ogden, UT; and an adopted sister, Anita (Brent) Conan, of Idaho Falls, ID. Larry was preceded in death by his mother, LaFern Rowberry Wilde, and sisters Sherrie Kent and Corinne Dahlstrom.
