Lester Weber

November 8, 1931 — October 28, 2009

Lester LaVerne Weber, age 77, a longtime resident of Jackson, Wyoming. Died Wednesday, October 28, 2009 at the St. John's Hospital in Jackson.

Les was born November 8, 1931 in Bladen, Nebraska to Andrew and Rose Meester Weber. As a young adult he traveled and worked in several different trades. During this time he met Shirley Mae (Einsphar) and they married. In 1957 Les got a job offer to help build a new elementary school in Jackson Hole. He and Shirley had three children at the time and decided to pack up and move to the mountains. They added two more children to the family after moving to Jackson.

Les was a carpenter by trade and worked for local contractors for several years until starting his own construction company. He and three of his sons are responsible for many of the beautiful log homes that grace the valley of Jackson Hole. He was a master at what he did and passed his skill down to his sons. Even after his retirement, Les never lost his love of woodworking and building. You can see his passion in every detail that he has left behind in their home in Thayne. After retirement, one of his great loves was working in the shop building special projects for his family.

After the passing of his wife Shirley in 2001, Les remarried in 2005 to Doneta Tunsen Baker Shinkle. They relocated to Thayne where they built a log cabin. They lived there during the summer and traveled to Arizona for the winters.

He had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed rock hunting, reading, cooking, gardening and building. Later in life, he always enjoyed and looked forward to the yearly family camping trips. He was always so intrigued with any and every part of construction. Not only construction, but his 'roots' of Nebraska farming always brought a big smile to his face. When passing a field of crops.

He is survived by his wife, Doneta of Thayne; brother Donald (Leota) Weber of Harvard, Nebraska; son Robert (Ginny) Weber of Hamilton, Montana; daughter Sharon (Glen) Steers of Lander, Wyoming; son Ronald (Kaylea) Weber, Son Dan (Terri) Weber and son Andy (Cari) Weber all of Jackson; Stepdaughter Kim Poletti of Phoenix, Arizona; stepson Cory (Alison) Shinkle of Peoria, Arizona; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Shirley, one sister and one grandson.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson. Burial will be in the Southpark Cemetery south of Jackson under the direction of the Valley Mortuary in Jackson.
