Peiter A. Swanson, 31, passed away on March 31, 2014, in Jackson, Wyo., pursuing his passion for skiing. Originally from Germansville, Pa., Peiter spent the last 12 years skiing and working in the mountains outside Salt Lake City, Utah
He was a graduate of Northwestern Lehigh High School, New Tripoli, Pa., and earned his Emergency Medical Services certification from Community College of Salt Lake City where he specialized in mountain rescue.
Peiter worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a wildlands firefighter and Willbros Group, Inc., a pipeline contractor. He also volunteered at the Alta Clinic at Alta Ski Area.
When he wasn’t skiing, Peiter was enjoying the beauty of nature with beloved friends and his border collie Raz.
Peiter is survived by his parents, Joe and Sara (Wise) Swanson, of Germansville, Pa., and sister Samantha Acosta and her husband Julio, nephew Leonardo and niece Eleanor, of Orlando, Fla. He is also survived by aunts, uncles and cousins from the Wise, Bishop and Shook families of the Lehigh Valley, Pa., Tobias and Swanson families of Elkhart, Ind., Wise family of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Sagaser family of Akron, Ohio.
Peiter was predeceased by his grandparents Eleanor Wise, of Nazareth, Pa., and Forrest and Betty Swanson, of Goshen, Ind.
Details of services, to be held in Alta, Utah, and New Tripoli, Pa., will be announced via social media.
