Richard Stanley Bryant, born to Wanda and George Bryant on November 25th, 1948, grew up exploring the wilds of New Hampshire. His time in the woods with the Chick family boys developed in him a love for the great outdoors and hard work. The boys learned to ski on an old rickety rope toe on the icy east coast slopes. Richard grew and continued ski racing throughout the northeast. After calling out “single” in the chairlift line, he spent his first chairlift ride with the love of his life and best friend Jane Marie Crowley. The couple was drawn to the west in1980 due to the boom in oil field work and the Jackson Hole snow. Richard became an EMT and served the community through his EMT work and as the lead ski patrol for Snow King Resort in the early 1980s.
On a snowy day in March the couple discovered the beautiful Buffalo Valley where they would make their home with their three children, Arnica, Arianne and Brendan. Richard worked as a medic on the Jackson Lake Dam, and then with many construction companies throughout the valley. Eventually he would start Bryant Building and Restoration, which served the greater Moran area.
Richard’s true passion came alive during his 14 years of coaching and mentoring the Rafferty Racers ski team. His youthful energy and love of the children created an inspiring environment to each child he coached.
His love and creativity will ever inspire his friends and family. In his journal shortly before his passing he wrote, “Hope is the Word to live by”. He went to be with His precious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, with gracious peace in the early morning hours of March 10, 2016.
